The schools have broken up and the countdown to Easter is on, in fact it’s nearly here! Easter Weekend in Kirkby Stephen is an extra special occasion as it gears up to host the Easter Classic Vehicle Rally. A huge and pristine collection of vintage buses, trucks, wagons, tractors and even a steam engine descend upon our little market town from all over the country. The town becomes a bustling hive of activity with free bus rides, over 250 exhibitors, local crafts and stalls and a Saturday evening road run. It really is a vintage vehicle spectacular which has to be seen to be believed, the event is organised by Cumbria Classic coaches. Stainmore Railway also puts on a good show at Kirkby Stephen East old station with Steam Engines, models, shop and events. Even the Rugby club has teamed up with the Rotary to put on a Beer festival over the weekend with Live Music, real ale and BBQ on the Saturday. We’re all set for a fantastic weekend – let’s hope the weather plays ball too!
As many of you know Pennine View Caravan Park has recently changed hands. The park’s previous owners Colin and Sheila Sim along with their daughter Sharron have successfully managed and developed the site since its creation in 1990. After 27 years of hard work, dedication, a whole load of grass mowing, meeting people and making new friends along the way they are finally taking a well earned rest, in their retirement they may even take a summer holiday!
The Park has been taken on by Rachael and Ian Gowing and our son Logan who is keen to help out with everything (he’s only 2 so we’ll see how long that lasts!). We are both native to Kirkby Stephen and glad to be taking on a local business where we can share the beauty of where we are lucky enough to live. We also would like to express huge and sincere thanks to The Sims for creating such a marvellous park and for all their help in the last few months.
We are pleased to say Sharron will still be with us at Pennine View and we’re fairly sure Colin will be bobbing in and out too.
We’re looking forward to welcoming old customers and new and seeing where this new adventure takes us.
On that note – our new season is well and truly up and running, we are open for holiday makers regular and new so come along and say hi!
