These are unprecedented times. We all have a responsibility to consider not just ourselves but to the people of our country, the local community and on this park. Read More
We are remaining open, if you have booked with us and are still in a position where you are happy to travel, we are happy to welcome you with a few changes to procedure.
We have made the decision both for our staff and for visitors to begin a no contact check in/check out system, therefore reducing the amount of contact we all have with others. We will require the full amount due/remaining balance to be paid over the phone before you arrive, we will call you on the morning of arrival to explain this. Further instruction on how to check in will be delivered over the phone.
We hope that this is a safer, more reassuring system for all concerned.
Unfortunately we will have to suspend our newspaper service and shop for now, but all items are still available in Kirkby Stephen itself.
We will still be on site everyday to fully clean down the bathrooms and public areas. We will also be available on the phone at all times (mobile number will be given on check in) to answer any questions or help in any way we can.
This is a big (and uncomfortable) step away from our usual high level of customer service but we have to ensure that our guests are safe and our staff aren’t unduly put at risk. We too have vulnerable families and children no longer in school, so we hope you understand and we also hope you can come and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful countryside.
This does not affect our willingness to postpone bookings for anyone who would prefer not to come at the moment. Please see the news post ‘What to do‘ below for more information on that.
Please do not travel if you are unwell, showing any symptoms or have been exposed to any one with the virus in the last 2 weeks – we want to keep the park a safe haven for all to enjoy.
Our park is well spaced and not large, however we would advise guests to practice social distancing as advised by the government whilst on site. We can get through this together.
As always we will update you if and when the situation changes.
Much love
xxx
We understand after the Government advice given last night that many of our guests are unsure of how to go forward over the next few weeks. Many of our guests fall into the vulnerable categories or simply are a little nervous of what’s happening, let us assure you that your health is at the forefront of our minds and we want to help in any way we can.
Unless we are officially advised otherwise we are remaining open, however if any guests do not feel comfortable travelling or wish to remain at home we are happy to postpone your booking and carry over the full deposit to a date later in the season. Please just give us a call on 017683 71717 or send us an email on hello@pennineviewpark.co.uk to let us know. Currently we will move any booking for no charge to any available date in the 2020 season, you can decide your rearranged dates at any time, once we have resumed some form of normality!
Our bookings/cancellation policy can be found on this website or attached to your booking email.
Please know that we are doing all we can to remain clean, safe and open for those who are travelling. Please follow advice and do not travel if unwell.
We may need to reduce our reception opening times but we will advise customers of this if so and it will not affect our cleaning regime.
We are entering an unpredictable few weeks, maybe even months so our situation could change at any point. All updates will be posted on our website and on social media.
Stay safe and look forward to a brighter summer đ
We want to reassure all our guests we are taking all the government advice available and as of yet we are happily continuing as normal.
We have hand sanitizer available at reception and are ensuring all common areas and bathrooms are thoroughly and regularly cleaned and sanitised. (They are normally anyway – we’re just doing more!!!)

Stage 4 of Tour of Britain – 10th September
We are very excited here in Kirkby Stephen – the Tour of Britain cycle race is speeding through town on the 10th September in Stage 4 of the epic race, we even have a sprint stage through the town.
The town is doing all it can to embrace the celebrations with a family bike based musical on Monday and a Picnic Cinema (cycle based film!) on the Tuesday amongst the plans. Both the cinema night and the musical will be hosted by ourselves at Pennine View* – so if your staying with us – you won’t have far to wander to get involved!
We’d love for you all to join in the fun if you can, so we are offering a 10% discount for any stays of 2 nights or more between 8th-13th Sept 2019.
Just give us a call to book, or book online – use the code TOUR10.
The discount is only available to bookings made directly with ourselves, no discounts are available to bookings made via external bookings sites such as pitchup.com or airbnb.com.
*Both the musical and cinema are community organised events so there may be seperate charges/tickets for these.
We are extremely pleased to announce that a new Community Public Access Defibrillator has been installed onsite, meaning the life saving technology is now easily accessible for local residents, neighbours and guests alike.
A defibrillator is a device that gives a high energy electric shock to the heart of someone who is in cardiac arrest. This high energy shock is called defibrillation, and it’s an essential part in trying to save the life of someone whoâs in cardiac arrest. Along with CPR, it will give the patient the best possible chance of survival.
The devise was generously gifted to the park by the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust after Chis Hyde, the Community Resuscitation Development Officer (Cumbria/Lancashire) recognised the nearest locations were both a significant distance away. Pennine View Park sits perfectly at the top of town and is easily accessible to local residents, along with the many campers and caravanners who visit the site.
We are extremely grateful for the donation and thrilled to have a defibrillator on site, its such a vital piece of equipment for the community, we want to make sure everyone knows it is here and available should it be needed.
Along with NWAS, we will be offering training on how to use the defibrillator on Tuesday 27th August at 6pm. The training is open to any local residents who would like to come, just give the park a call on 017683 71717 to register interest.
So May has been a rather lovely month for us and we’re going to take 5 minutes to blow our own trumpet.
Today we happily received confirmation from VisitEngland that we have retained our 5 Star Holiday Park Award for 2019. We have been working hard on improvements, maintenance and upkeep so we hoped we had done enough to remain at the top – but that little wait for confirmation from the powers that be is always a slightly nervous one.
To add to that we have also been awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and a Reviews Award from PitchUp.com for consistently great reviews from our guests. So we are really thrilled to have our little corner of Kirkby Stephen so widely loved by both our guests and the Official Tourist Board for England.
We work hard to make sure your stay is pleasant, to keep our park in good condition and to show off how truly wonderful The Eden Valley and it’s hidden gems really are. We also have to thank our brilliant (and very small) team for all their hard work. If you haven’t already been to stay with us, we’d be happy to welcome you and show you what all the fuss is about! đ
We have literally thousands of walkers passing through Kirkby Stephen every year on the famous Coast to Coast walk and plenty of those that brave a tent for accommodation land on our doorstep.
We see many a weary face (and a few spritely ones!) arrive after the long slog from Shap – don’t get me wrong most people are having a wonderful trip with views and experiences to last a lifetime, but after a week of walking over some pretty high hills most a ready for a rest. So we want to let you know there is no better place on the route to take a rest day.
Kirkby Stephen is one of the few towns on the route with all the amenities you need, pubs a plenty, cafes, shops to restock, camping/walking supplies and all set in a pretty market town that is widely recognised as the ‘half way’ point of the route.
Pennine View Park is located at the top of town and is an easy 15 minute walk to the centre. We have an onsite laundry so you can freshen up those socks, free wifi (and charging sockets) to reconnect with the world and for those wanting a little extra comfort we have warm cosy camping pods with heaters, kettles, fridge and most importantly comfy beds! The perfect pit stop to ready you for the next weeks walking.
So when planning your trip why not factor in a rest day with us, we’d be happy to welcome you.
Wondering how to keep the kids entertained when all you want to do is relax? We’ve got the answer (well at least an afternoon’s worth!).
Pebble art or painting rocks can provide hours of free fun – have you ever been out on a walk and found a cute painted rock and re-hidden it for the next family? Well we do it all the time and its a great way to get your kids out and about and enjoying the outdoors.
We have a big box of paints and brushes at reception available for all our guests to borrow (as you rarely bring paints camping or caravanning!) – so all you need to do is get out there and find some pebbles to paint.
You can keep your pebbles as a holiday memory, hide them whilst you are here or take them home and hide them there. Let’s see how far across the country (or world?) we can spread the pebble love. We just ask you tag #pennineviewrocks so we can track them down. So get painting people and remember to keep an eagle eye out when on your outdoor adventures….
